Terms of Use
Last updated: May 8, 2026
1. Acceptance
By accessing or using Backstrap (the “site” or “service”), you agree to these Terms of Use and our Privacy Policy and Disclaimer. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, please do not use the site.
2. Educational purpose; not financial advice
The site provides a backtest engine and related educational material that allows users to test technical indicator configurations against historical or synthetic price data.
Nothing on the site constitutes investment advice, a recommendation, a solicitation, or an offer to buy or sell any financial instrument. Backtest output is hypothetical and does not represent actual trading. Past performance of any strategy is not indicative of future results. You are solely responsible for any decisions you make based on insights gained from the site.
3. No regulated services
We do not act as a broker, dealer, investment adviser, fund manager, or any other regulated financial intermediary. We do not place trades or hold any client assets. The site is informational and educational only.
4. Acceptable use
- You may use the site for personal, educational, and non-commercial study of trading strategies and indicators.
- You may not attempt to disrupt, scrape at unreasonable rates, reverse-engineer commercial behaviours, or use the site in violation of any applicable law or third-party rights.
- Uploaded data (e.g. CSV files) remains yours; the site processes uploads only in your browser and never transmits them to our servers.
5. Intellectual property
The site, its design, content, code, and brand identifiers (excluding generic indicators, strategy names, and other commonly-known concepts) are the property of Backstrap or its licensors. You may not reproduce or redistribute the site content for commercial purposes without permission.
Any open-source components used by the site retain their original licenses (commonly MIT, Apache 2.0, or BSD-style).
6. Third-party content and links
The site may display advertisements served by third parties (such as Google AdSense) and may link to external resources. We do not endorse and are not responsible for the content, accuracy, or practices of third-party sites or advertisers.
7. Disclaimer of warranties
The site is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including without limitation warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. Backtest results are hypothetical, subject to errors, and may not reflect real-market conditions including liquidity, slippage, execution latency, or other factors.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Backstrap and its operators shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages — including lost profits, lost data, or trading losses — arising from or in connection with your use of, or inability to use, the site, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
9. Changes
We may modify the site or these Terms at any time. Material changes will be posted with a new “Last updated” date. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
10. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the site is operated, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction unless otherwise required by mandatory consumer protection law.
